Energy Efficiency and Recycling

At Total we believe that as manufacturers we have a responsibility to protect the environment. Consequently we strive to continuously improve our processes and are committed to developing new ways to use energy efficiently and reduce waste.

Wherever possible we use natural and plentiful resources, namely glass (which is made from sand) and aluminium. Aluminium is one of the most abundant resources in the world, and at the current primary aluminium production level, known bauxite reserves will last for hundreds of years. Almost every aluminium product can be commercially recycled at the end of its useful life, without loss of metal quality or properties, and at Total we recycle all aluminium waste created in the factory.

Installing double-glazing helps our environment as carbon dioxide emissions from heat loss are reduced. Consequently heating fuel consumption is reduced, which in turn reduces bills. The energy required to make the second pane of glass is recoverable within a year.
